Art will be alive in sound at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, when Bart Weisman begins the 4th season of winter jazz concert on December 20th.

Along with Weisman, who is the founder and organizer of the Provincetown Jazz Festival, Boston-based artist Krisanthi Pappas will be at the museum for her Provincetown debut.  Pappas has opened for many jazz greats, including Branford Marsalis, Chuck Mangione and others. Her albums, including a just-released CD of holiday songs, receive national airplay, and feature both original and Pappas’ unique interpretations of jazz standards.

The second concert on February 14th features the Provincetown debut of vocalist Perley Rousseau along with her husband and musical partner Sonny Daye, a pianist.  The duo has a distinctive sound that blends jazz with Brazilian influences. They perform frequently in New York, New England and Europe, and have released three albums to critical acclaim.

For the final concert in the series on March 14th will present, jazz pianist, composer and vocalist Janice Friedman, who has worked with the likes of Joe Lovano, Milt Hinton, Lew Tabakin and others.  Friedman is also the musical director for Suede, and she recently created a number of original arrangements for Suede’s newly released album “Dangerous Mood.” She also has her own CD, “Swingin’ for the Ride,” which showcases her work as a vocalist and pianist.

Weisman, a jazz drummer, gives regular performances all over Cape Cod. Before moving to the area, he performed for years in the Washington, D.C., area, where he worked with many other notable jazz musicians, including Keter Betts and Rebecca Parris.

The concerts take place at 2 p.m. and are free and open to the public. To find out more about upcoming concerts at the museum visit www.paam.org.
