Just because the
budget is tight, it doesn't mean you can't have a romantic Valentine's Day.
The Provincetown Art
Association and Museum (PAAM) will be hosting a free concert as part of the
Winter Jazz with Bart Weisman concert series, featuring pianist Sonny Daye and
vocalist Perley Rousseau, a duo from New York who've been married for 20 years.
Mr. Weisman will accompany them on drums and Laird Boles will play bass.
"We're going to
be doing a mixture of jazz, great American songbook standards, and
international cabaret," Ms. Rousseau says. "I sing some music from
Brazil in Portuguese, and I'll also be doing a couple of compositions from
France and singing them in French. The concert will definitely have a romantic
appeal."
In addition to the
concert, you can browse four shows in the galleries, including an exhibit of
some gems from the museum's permanent collection and a juried show of current
members with more than 70 works. Another exhibit is a show of the fellows from
the Fine Arts Work Center, which features cutting-edge installations and
videos.
"They have
critical international acclaim, so it will be something that you'd never get to
see again in this area," says PAAM Executive Director Chris McCarthy.
